"Ambitous style and sound technique... and then some!"

Acclaimed Chef Robert Kisby Takes Over Cabbage Hall, Little Budworth

05 Apr 2009

Today sees the launch of celebrated ‘gastropub’ Cabbage Hall under the patronage of one of the North West’s most celebrated chefs, Robert Kisby. The restaurant opened for business under Kisby, on 28th March after a brief closure to facilitate the move, and has continued to welcome existing customers alongside passionate followers of Robert’s culinary delights.

After spending the last 27 years based in and around Manchester, Robert has established a reputation for culinary excellence as the inspiration and creative talent behind the food served in two of Manchester’s most iconic buildings; the Bridgewater Hall and Urbis. As chef-manager at Ubis’s hugely successful Le Mont, he led the restaurant to national and regional acclamation, winning a total of 11 awards and establishing him firmly as a gastronomic force to be reckoned with.

Taking his very personal style of cuisine to the Cock O’Barton, a 400 year old coaching inn near Chester, his exceptional cooking brought the pub 3 awards in the eighteen months he presided over it, and confirmed his desire to run his own gastro pub, as chef patron.

The launch therefore marks a new era in the career of Kisby and he will be joined by customers old and new, alongside representatives from the food and tourism industry, and a number of his valued suppliers and neighbouring businesses.

For Robert being in charge of his own restaurant is the beginning of fulfilling a dream: “I’m just delighted to find such a fantastic property in such a splendid location, as I’ve been looking for some time now and this is perfect. It’s certainly a big challenge, but I’m looking forward to making my mark and bringing my personal style to Cabbage Hall. I hope that the many friends I have already made in the North West will come along to say ‘hello’ and see what we have to offer here.”

A member of the Academy of Culinary Arts and the Master Chefs of Great Britain, holder of 2AA Rosettes and a 5-rating in the Good Food Guide, Robert has a well deserved reputation as a chef of high integrity, who thrives on the rapport he has with his customers.

Robert’s passionate support of regional produce, his personal belief in the importance of good food and his experience of life as a chef is reflected in ‘Homegrown’, a new book which charts the stories and influences of some of Britain’s top chefs.

Visitors to Cabbage Hall will be greeted by dishes which reflect Kisby’s individual style as well as the fabulous platter menu which combines his passion for food with a unique take on the idea of sharing. There is also an extensive wine list, personally chosen by Kisby, which reflects a quality of choice without the price tag.All press enquiries to Gourley Marketing Partners contact:

"Cabbage Hall was everything that we hoped it would be...and more! The food, wines and service were of the highest standard - the canapés were spectacular - which, when coupled with the very comfortable and elegant surroundings, gave all forty of us the perfect evening to follow a hard day's racing at Chester! Our guests were extremely well looked after and very impressed. We will be back!!"
